The XV of France won with ease, Sunday, in Vannes, and pocketed its third success in three games.
Les Bleues continue their march forward. The France team signed its third victory in the Six Nations Tournament, against Scotland, Sunday April 16 (55-0). Hampered in the first period by the Scots who prevented them from developing their game, the Blue accelerated in the second act to win the offensive bonus and afford a new festival (nine tries registered).
Two weeks after their flamboyant victory in Ireland, the Blue offered a new offensive demonstration. For their first match in front of their public in 2023, in a packed La Rabine stadium, they suffocated, with wear, a brave but too limited Scottish team, and unable to score the slightest point in Brittany.
A very good return from the locker room
The seven changes made compared to the fifteen who moved to Cork did not disturb the Blues. Technically and physically superior, the French players signed a second period of very high level, with six tries scored after returning from the locker room. Emilie Boulard struck as soon as she returned from the locker room (44th) after a sublime chistera from Gabrielle Vernier.
This success was symbolized by a crazy highlight of six minutes during which they scored three tries (49th, 53rd, 55th), thanks to Gaëlle Hermet, Emilie Boulard author of a hat-trick, and Gabrielle Vernier, still there, more than never top scorer for Les Bleues in the competition (four tries).
For her return to the blue jersey, after missing the start of the Tournament for injury, Romane Ménager also gave herself a try, served at the end of the race by her twin sister Marine (62nd). Maëlle Filopon, also back in the group by choice of the staff, completed the broad tricolor success with a ninth and final achievement after having played with the Scottish defense (72nd).
First solutions on counterattack
But before deploying all their offensive power, the French had to contain the Scottish advances. With a good first period, Bryan Easson’s players held the ball and possession, and showed themselves to be on the initiative of the game (75% occupation of the field). Solid to defend, the Blues first relied on very good efficiency and hard-hitting counter-attacks to take the lead (11th, 22nd).
With this success without any points conceded, a first in the Tournament since 2021, the players of Gaëlle Mignot and David Ortiz take second place in the general classification, behind the English untouchables. They have an appointment with Wales next weekend in Grenoble.
