The captain of the South African rugby team, Siya Kolisi, could miss the World Cup of the discipline, to be held in France this year, due to an injury suffered in one of his knees.

According to NewsHub, the forward, who suffered this physical problem last Saturday during the match between his team, Sharks, and Munster, within the framework of date 18 of the United Rugby Championship (URC), was reviewed by two specialists, one of the which recommends surgery, which if performed will leave him out of the aforementioned contest.

Kolisi is expected to see a third specialist and bets that without surgery he can heal in four months, a period that would give him a chance to play in the World Cup.

However, should he undergo an operation, the player will be left out of the Rugby Championship matches against Australia, New Zealand and Argentina.

It should be noted that Kolisi injured his knee against Munster but continued to play and even walked the pitch after the match, thanking the fans in what will now be his last game for the South African Sharks franchise, as from next season will join the French Top 14 to wear the Racing 92 jersey.

The possible loss of the third row for the World Cup could represent a problem for South Africa, current world champion, due to his importance within the squad.

Those led by Jacques Nienaber will be part of Group B in the ecumenical competition, which will begin on September 9, together with Ireland, number one in the world ranking, Scotland, Tonga and Romania.
