With its RayNeo X2, TCL is now bringing a bold and very promising new product to the smart glasses market. By integrating in particular a universal translator, your glasses will soon allow you to understand a conversation in any language thanks to the transcriptions of the conversation displayed on the lenses of your glasses.

We are still far from the technologies used by humans on Pandora in Avatar 2 but it must be admitted, science fiction is catching up with us little by little. The Chinese manufacturer TCL recently presented at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas a new model of its smart glasses to virtual reality. Thanks to a very powerful Snapdragon XR2 chip from Qualcomm embedded on board the frames, users will be able to take part in a conversation in any language.

the universal translator integrated into the glasses will display, on the lenses equipped with MicroLed screens, the transcription of the conversation in the language of your choice. The first tests allowed the journalists present in Las Vegas to fully understand a chat in chinese. The only problem lies in the practicality and aesthetics of these frames.

Promising ideas but a look that is hard to convince

Very comparable to 3D glasses with disproportionately large (and relatively heavy) branches, you are not likely to go unnoticed. The different touch buttons on the branches allow you to scroll through the various features hidden in these new smart glasses. They also carry a camera allowing users to easily and quickly take snapshots, but which make the product even less discreet.

However, on-board technologies could prove to be very interesting. The MicroLED screens integrated into the lenses are of very good quality and allow a very convincing final result. One smart gps will also allow you to be guided through a city or a road without having to take your phone out of your pocket. You can also decide whether or not you want your calls, messages and notifications to appear right in front of you – literally. Finally, you can also listen to music without anyone noticing thanks to the speakers built into the temples. In short, these RayNeo X2 from TCL are very promising. A last effort to make on the aesthetics would be enough to convince us.
