The year 2022 was full of great events in different sectors, but one of them deserves a big highlight: the games industry. With Covid-19 shaking everyone’s lives in 2020, studios needed to adapt to a new reality and title development underwent severe changes.
With the blow suffered, game production had to adopt a slower pace and many titles needed postponements to be completed. Fortunately, the pandemic calmed down and the world returned to the long-awaited normality, with studios being able to bring their works as they wanted this year.
Another interesting point is that we saw the new generation take its first steps, since a lot has been dammed up since the launch of the consoles in November 2020. This year, we saw games that began to take advantage of the potential of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S , something that should get more noticeable in 2023.
With so many major releases, it’s difficult to make a list of just ten outstanding games this year, but the intention is to take titles from different styles and platforms to show that 2022 has reserved a lot of quality for players of all types, from casual even the most hardcore.

10 Marvel Snaps

Do you like card games and are you looking for an addictive, fun experience that doesn’t need absurd doses of strategy? If you’re still a Marvel fan, you need to check out Marvel Snap!
The free-to-play game is premised on six-round quick matches. Each player has a deck of twelve cards that need to be dealt into zones, with the winner being the one who dominates the most locations. Simple, isn’t it? However, the strategy element will yield exciting matches that could be decided in the last round.
9 A Plague Tale: Requiem

A Plague Tale: Requiem is the direct sequel to the 2019 hit Innocence. Asobo Studio listened to the criticism, improved the combat and introduced more elements to the puzzles, in addition to the technical advances that allowed for stunning graphics for complete immersion.
It is also worth mentioning the exciting plot, which brings a memorable adventure, approaching sensitive themes in an intelligent way and with an exciting rhythm that will keep the player in his chair from beginning to end.
8 Cult of the Lamb

Cult of the Lamb is an indie game with a “cute” look, but which hides a macabre proposal: to found an evil cult based on murder, intimidation, sacrifice rituals and other bizarre things.
It mixes resource management and roguelike combat, bringing a unique and addictive experience. Experiencing all the possibilities and forming a cult of respect will take dozens of hours of gameplay, making it a great option for those who want something to relax on vacation.
7 Vampire Survivors
Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Android, IOS and PC
Want a retro, simple and fun experience? Vampire Survivor has an interesting proposal: survive hordes of enemies for thirty minutes. It seems short and silly, but you’ll lose a good few hours without even noticing the time passing by, you’re so entertained killing monsters.
Don’t let the pixelated graphics fool you, it hides a complex system of weapon upgrades, decisions, new characters, relics and much more. If you want unbridled action, but without having to think too much, this gem is worth giving a chance.
6 Sifu
Platforms: PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC
Do you love Asian martial arts movies and want a game to get down on whoever appears in front of you? Sifu is an unmissable, addictive and highly challenging experience that will make you feel like John Wick (minus the firearms) facing off against enemy hordes.
In addition to having a complex system with more than one hundred and fifty attacks, it has an interesting mechanic: each time you die, your character resurrects older and more vulnerable. While the learning curve is steep, it’s satisfying to master its combat and play out incredible action sequences.
5 stray
Platforms: PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC
Stray caused a real phenomenon and possibly, you heard about it when it was released in July. His proposal enchanted even those who are not video game fans: you control a cat in a city abandoned by humans, but inhabited by robots.
The way the title adapts the movements of a cat to its gameplay is impressive, with the right to throw things from the table to the floor with its paw. Its adorable narrative is the icing on the cake, making the game a touching experience, especially for a cat owner.
4 Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Japanese RPG fans were well served with one of the biggest releases of the genre in recent years: Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Featuring turn-based combat, a mature story and a huge open world, the title was made for those who want to adventure for a long time. . To check out our review, click here.
Despite being the third title in the series, it is not necessary to play the previous ones. It enhances everything that went well and corrects some mistakes made by its successor, being the definitive experience of the franchise and an excellent gateway for those who want to know it.
3 Horizon Forbidden West

The continuation of Aloy’s adventure was one of the most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, being postponed to 2022. Fortunately, Guerrilla Games had plenty of time to bring an adventure with more personality, several gameplay options and new gigantic machines. To check out our review, click here.
In Horizon Forbidden West, the player must embark on an adventure to investigate the origin of a mysterious plague that slowly kills living beings, while facing imposing and deadly machines in an even more personal narrative than the first. Technically, the title also impresses with its beautiful graphics worthy of the new generation, but make no mistake: it is a masterpiece on PlayStation 4 as well.
2 God of War Ragnarok

The continuation of the acclaimed reboot of God Of War (2018) was awaited with much anticipation and speculation, as the lack of official information led players to believe that the title would be postponed again and would not arrive in 2022. The new game continues the Norse saga of Kratos and his son Atreus, but on a much grander scale. This time, the duo clashes with Thor and the mighty Odin, with Asgard preparing for war in the fearsome Ragnarok. Featuring a gripping narrative, epic boss fights and plenty of exploration, it’s established itself as one of the greatest PlayStation exclusives to date.
1 Elden Ring

A list with the main releases of 2022 would not be complete without the champion of The Game Awards 2022, the award considered the Oscar of videogames. FromSoftware’s action RPG combines the main elements of Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice to deliver its definitive work, which impressed the specialized critics and the public. Set in the Midlands, the player will control the Tainted and will need to break a curse while chasing the legendary Pristine Ring. To do so, he will need to explore a gigantic world, face epic bosses and master sharp, addictive combat full of possibilities. Its freedom inspired by The Legend Of Zelda: Breath of The Wild makes everything even more interesting, yielding dozens of hours of fun.
