You traveled with the SNCF and your train was late? Wondering if you can get a refund for this inconvenience? The answer is yes !

Depending on the length of the delay and the type of ticket you purchased, you may be eligible for a partial or full refund of your ticket, or a voucher to be used for a future trip.

We therefore explain the conditions and the steps to follow to obtain reimbursement in the event of an SNCF train delay.

What are the SNCF reimbursement conditions?

Reimbursement of your ticket depends on the type of train you took and the time of delay upon arrival.

TGV INOUI and the Intercités

You can obtain compensation of 25% of the ticket price if the delay is between 30 and 59 minutes, 50% if it is between 60 and 119 minutes, and 75% if it is greater than or equal to 120 minutes.

Reimbursement is made in the form of a digital voucher valid for one year on the OUI.sncf website or application, or in the form of a bank transfer if you request it.

For example, for a ticket in the amount of 80 euros, it is possible to make an online request on the OUI.sncf site. The SNCF then sends you a digital voucher for 20 euros (25% of the ticket price) to use for your next trip.

OUIGO Trains

The conditions for refunding OUIGO tickets are quite similar to those of INOUI. You can get compensation from 25% of the ticket price if the delay is between 30 and 59 minutesand 50% if it is greater than or equal to 60 minutes.

The compensation takes the form of a digital voucher valid for one year on the OUIGO website or application.

TER

Since they are used to travel over shorter distances, TERs are subject to stricter reimbursement conditions. You can therefore obtain a compensation of 25% of the ticket price if the delay is between 30 and 59 minutesand 50% if it is greater than or equal to 60 minutes.

This time, the reimbursement can be made in the form of a paper voucher valid for six months in SNCF stations or shops, or in the form of a bank transfer if you request it.

International trains (Eurostar, Thalys, Lyria, etc.)

The reimbursement conditions for international trains are more complex since they vary according to the company and the country of destination. You can consult the terms and conditions on the OUI.sncf website or application or on the website of the company concerned.

How to get a refund for your train ticket in case of delay?

To obtain your compensation, you must make your request within a maximum period of 60 days after the date of travel. You can apply online or by mail.

How to submit your reimbursement request online?

You must go to the OUI.sncf, OUIGO or TER website or application depending on the type of train you have taken, and complete the dedicated form with your personal information and your ticket references.

You will then receive a confirmation email with your compensation code to use for your next purchase, or an email indicating the supporting documents to provide to obtain a bank transfer.

How do I request a refund by mail?

You must send your original ticket or a copy of your e-ticket, as well as a bank details if you want a bank transfer, to the following address:

Service Relation Client SNCF
