MIAMI.- The actress Venezuelan Mariana Derderin is in mourning, because her son 6 years old died in a fire which occurred in his house, located in the commune of Vitacura, Santiago de Chile.
According to reports in the Chilean press, the event occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, May 8.
“The flames spread quickly in this house located in the Vitacura commune. In the midst of the fire, a desperate mother contacted the children’s father to come to her aid. That mother is the actress Mariana Derderín, who also calls the firefighters. She manages to get out with her eldest daughter, 8 years old, but her 6-year-old son dies inside the house,” reported channel T13.
Attempts to save the actress’s son
On the other hand, the fire department of the Chilean capital indicated that it was impossible to save the child, who was on the first floor of the house.
“Upon the arrival of the firefighters it was impossible – as I repeat, regardless of the search and rescue actions carried out by the personnel – to be able to access the minor and carry out the respective rescue maneuver. Unfortunately the minor was in the first floor, in one of the affected rooms,” Rodrigo Cornejo, Captain 18 of the Santiago Company, told the media.
“Lieutenant Colonel Marco Fuentes, of the Andes Prefecture, explained that the incident would have occurred on the first floor of the residence, located in the Sioux sector with Tahiti, in the commune of Vitacura, Chile, around 02:30 hours,” he added Univision en su pgina web.
Likewise, the Chilean press detailed that the child’s father, journalist Francisco Aravena, tried to save his son when he arrived home.
“In the midst of the emergency, prominent journalist Francisco Aravena tried to rescue his little boy, but despite his efforts it was impossible. He remains hospitalized, recovering from the injuries he suffered when entering the house,” reported T13.
Until now, authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, which could be related to a heat source in one of the bedrooms of the house.
