SPÖ leader Gabriele Sprickler-Falschlunger was a guest on “Vorarlberg LIVE” on Friday.

“I know colleagues in the Oberland who are urgently looking for a successor. But it doesn’t work,” said Gabriele Sprickler-Falschlunger on Friday at Vorarlberg LIVE. She herself wanted to hand over her practice at the end of the year. What annoys the SPÖ leader is that she discussed the shortage of doctors in the practice area for ten years in the state parliament, but nothing happened. “Even the teaching practices have not proven to be effective,” she continued. Young doctors who go to a general practitioner don’t work. One opportunity would have been to recruit new blood by awarding scholarships to medical students with the promise that they would go into practice in the country.

So that fewer general practitioners opt for a private practice, Sprickler-Falschlunger would give these private doctors a choice: “Either health insurance office or private doctors. We currently need private doctors in the specialist area, but not in the case of general practitioners.”

As far as her successor as SPÖ state party leader is concerned, a lot has happened. At the end of January, the local chairmen meet and can propose candidates. While there were four successor candidates in the fall, there are now two. “One of them is Manuela Auer,” she revealed in an interview. The decision on her successor should be made shortly.

In the Causa investigation committee, Gabriele Sprickler-Falschlunger expects the Greens to support the SPÖ proposal in the ninth round of negotiations in January. “We want the state administrative court to be able to decide whether a delivery of files is appropriate or not,” said the SPÖ leader.
