YouTuber Squeezie has just released his latest “Who’s the Impostor” video featuring Vald and Naza. By viewing it, we notice that all the swear words have been censored by the editor. Blame it on YouTube’s new demonetization policy that gives videographers headaches.

Vald and Naza were Squeezie’s guests

To start 2023 off right, Squeezie has released yet another video from their much-loved series “Who is the impostor”. This time, the videographer is accompanied by the rappers Vald and Naza who lent themselves with pleasure to the game. This one consists of guessing who is the impostor among three people sharing a common passion or profession, the intruder being accomplice with one of the participants.

Many Internet users were however surprised to hear invariably “Beeps” to hide the swear words spoken. Some even praised the work of the editor who had to whip to make the sequences more polite by hiding the insults and the names of birds dropped by Squeezie and his guests. This editing obviously owes nothing to chance. YouTube does not just change the face and include new functions. The platform also regularly updates its rules for creators.

YouTube has declared war on swear words

As YouTuber Theo Malini explains, voice recognition robots were already analyzing videos to calculate the degree of vulgar language. Demonetization was then decreed or not depending on the “seriousness” of the swear words spoken and their frequency of use. But now, “Whether you use a word that really isn’t usable on YouTube or it’s just a little insult, it’s the same, you’re getting a slap in the face. And all this in proportion to the length of the video”explains the videographer.

We understand why Squeezie was keen to remove the swear words scattered in his last video. Without doing this, it would not have been able to benefit from monetization. This new policy annoys both videographers and Internet users who deplore the fact that political correctness takes precedence over spontaneity in order to seduce advertisers.

For his part, YouTuber Terracid points to the retroactivity of the new policy. And to list all his videos that have been demonetized because of inappropriate language spotted by robots.
