Can Jeff Bezos revive Amazon?
“This is its worst year since 2000, when the dotcom bubble burst”, recalls the expert. However, Jeff Bezos is very strongly impacted by this fall, because he remains one of the main shareholders of the group.
And Michael Batnick to add: “Jeff Bezos is an extremely wealthy man who got a lot less wealth in the last year because the business he spent his life building is in dire straits. I think it’s possible (his return to the head of the company Editor’s note). I wouldn’t put my hand to cut on that, but I think it’s possible he’ll come back to the helm to steady the ship. »
On closer inspection, it is true that the clouds are gathering for Amazon, and that the psychological impact of a return of Jeff Bezos would not be superfluous. The firm has just announced a very important layoff plan which will affect 18,000 jobs.
Jeff Bezos’ successor since his departure in 2021 is none other than Andrew Jassy. The latter had to manage problems related to inflation, but also others related to the covid pandemic which impacted the supply chain. There was also a desire for increased unionization on the part of the staff, which was not to the liking of the management.
It must also respond to pressure from the public authorities who are increasingly investigating and sanctioning the Tech giants, particularly with regard to breaches of competition law.

If Jeff Bezos decided to take the plunge, he would not be the first to have this type of trajectory. After a voluntary or forced departure, some leaders have indeed taken over the reins of their company. We sometimes speak of “boomerang CEOs” to describe this phenomenon.
