It’s been over a month since three new Star Wars movies were announced and a lot has happened since then. That’s how the franchise should be will probably steer more in the direction of the James Bond films in the future. But we also received new information about Daisy Ridley’s return as Rey. Namely, that the actress is more likely to be seen in a smaller role on screen. Now the Lucasfilm President has also revealed how Rey’s time with Luke Skywalker will influence her in the new film.

Luke’s appearance in the sequel trilogy

Many fans were happy about them Return of Mark Hamil in his old role as Luke Skywalker, but at least as many were bitterly disappointed after the then 63-year-old had only a very short appearance at the end of the film in “The Force Awakens”.

Hamil once said of the portrayal of the Jedi Master in Episode 8 “He’s not my Luke Skywalker”. And his appearance as a power spirit in Episode 9 probably didn’t really satisfy anyone. In the recent past, a CGI likeness of young Luke Skywalker has been in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett to see. But what does his role in the upcoming films look like?

This is what the Lucasfilm boss says about Luke’s influence on Rey

According to a new interview with Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, the late Skywalker will continue to have a major influence on Rey in the new trilogy. “We’re going back in time very far, we’re looking at the present, and now we’re moving to (a period of time) 15 years after ‘The Rise of Skywalker’,” said the person responsible for the three new projects.

“The First Order has fallen, but the Jedi are scattered everywhere – it’s not even clear how many of them still exist – and Rey is building the new Jedi Order based on the text they receive and imparted by Luke got.”

It remains to be seen if Mark Hamil, now 71, will also be part of the new Star Wars film. In a brief tweet celebrating the Episode 8 anniversary, he’s at least not exactly enthusiastic about the role. But next to the big movie with Rey, veteran Dave Filoni is also working on a big blockbusterwhich is intended to connect many stories from the current Disney Plus series.
