They block roads and throw food at works of art.
The “last generation” wants to achieve more climate protection with these actions. 2022 was just the beginning of the resistance, they announce on their Twitter channel. The first big action in the new year takes place right in front of the Ministry of Transport.
The fight against tarred and paved roads
Members of the “Last Generation” try to damage Invalidenstrasse in Berlin with jackhammers. The Ministry of Transport is located there. However, the police were able to stop the protest directed against Transport Minister Volker Wissing (FDP) in good time.

On Twitter, the climate activists warn that “the daily routine is taking us straight to climate hell via freshly paved and sealed roads”. They can’t allow that.
Next they write:
“We will irrevocably lose the freedoms that Minister of Transport Wissing and his party friends advocate for, if rows of cities become uninhabitable, our economy collapses and we no longer have enough food.”
They believe that the “last generation” will not blindly follow the road to the abyss. The activists want to stand in the way of this destructive madness – “creatively, courageously and full of hope”.
The action met with little understanding from Twitter users
The Spiegel reporter Felix Dachsel is probably angry about this action. He personally got stuck in the tram to the train station because of the “jackhammer protest”. According to him, those who wanted to travel climate-friendly with suitcases are probably not “total fans” of the “last generation”.
In general, the verdict of Twitter users on this action is negative. But the climate protectors are convinced: “If we want to survive, we must finally tackle the construction site of the climate catastrophe together!” The group announces that it intends to continue to “interrupt everyday life” in order to carry the resistance into all areas of society.

Since the beginning of 2022, the “Last Generation” has been blocking important traffic routes in Berlin and other major cities. They want to draw attention to climate protection. But they not only use public roads for their actions, but also museums, stadiums, ministries, airports and oil pipelines. Among other things, the climate protectors smeared famous works of art with mashed potatoes or tomato soup. However, the paintings were protected by protective glasses.
The “last generation” is convinced that there is only one generation left that can do something about climate change. Your.
