Due to the obligation of a new regulation, the nightclubs and bars of the Buenos Aires province They must distribute water free of charge to whoever requests it. This measure was approved by the Buenos Aires Legislature on April 12 through Law 15,439.
In the regulations, called “Law of Buenos Aires Jugs”, it is indicated that establishments such as bars and dance venues must deliver free water and “without any limit”. In the letter it is argued that access to water is a right and that it is one of the main strategies to mitigate alcoholic intoxication.
It was promulgated and comes into force this Tuesday, May 9. As of today, bars and nightclubs will have a period of 90 days to implement the law and if they do not face “closures and economic sanctions.”
“The purpose of this regulation is to guarantee and promote unrestricted access to drinking water consumption free of charge in all establishments that sell alcoholic beverages and in stadiums and places where massive events are held,” he says.

The measure had been demanded by the Minister of Health, Nicolás Kreplakwhen maintaining: “Sometimes something so vital becomes merchandise and puts the health of young people at risk.”
