A large group of students from different faculties of the National University of La Plata (UNLP) mobilized to the Ministry of Transportation of the Province of Buenos Aires, on 10 and 61, with the aim of demanding improvements in the operation of the university ticket, a subsidy system for the coverage of tickets on trains and buses that governs the area of the house of higher studies. They pointed out technical problems and asked for an increase in aid, the latter an item that has a monthly update, according to the Buenos Aires portfolio.
From the University Federation of La Plata (FULP), an entity that integrates the student groups of the 17 faculties and called for the protest day, it was expressed that “we came to mobilize to demand the university ticket and its full implementation,” he said Karina, one of the leaders in the street movement and added that “there are many colleagues, newcomers and from other years, who are having problems. We are looking for the amounts to be credited. Although everyone has already requested it and made the order in Siu Guaraní, the amounts are not reaching the SUBE cards, ”she said.
According to what was said in the mobilization, which included a street blockade in front of the Ministry’s headquarters, to what was marked as application failures is added the claim for the extension of the amount available to each person to cover their trips. “At the beginning of the year we had an amount that was improved compared to the previous year, but we need more to be able to access the public and free university,” he pointed out.

Along the same lines, the leader who spoke to this newspaper pointed out that “we need an increase according to what is being experienced so that students can come to our faculties,” she stated.
A representation of the University Federation presented their proposals before Ministry personnel, as indicated later from that portfolio. They also indicated in those offices that the claims were in the process of being resolved. Notwithstanding this, a formal framework was established for the talks that are taking place. This, through the formation of a work group “to constantly monitor the situation of the students.”
Regarding the request for an increase in the monthly subsidy for each student, it was indicated that “it is updated automatically” each time there is an increase in the ticket (month by month, the inflation index measured by INDEC is applied to the table). . However, each student who accesses the benefit maintains the amount equivalent to 45 tickets in the Greater Buenos Aires area.
SYSTEM EXPANSION
“In the Ministry we have the will to work to solve the problems,” said a Transportation source and recalled that “we are the ministry that implemented the university student ticket.” At the same time, he anticipated that they are in the process of expanding the system, for the incorporation of students from teacher and professional training institutes. This initiative would allow the enrollment of tertiary centers that depend on the General Directorate of Culture and Education to be added in the Region.
In this sense, Eva, a student of Primary Teachers at the Higher Institute for Teacher Training No. 17 in La Plata, raised this statement in recent days: “Everyone already has it except those who train to be a teacher. Between the photocopies and the micro, it is becoming very heavy for us due to the price increases”, said the student.
