From the town of sumapazin the Tunal Alto sector, the mayoress of Bogotá, claudia lopezthe commander of the Thirteenth Army Brigadethe Brigadier General Rodolfo Moralesannounced that there will be four additional checkpoints throughout the territory to guarantee the safety of citizens, after the announcement of the refoundation of the Front 53 of the Farc. They also pondered the presence of the troops of the High Mountain Battalion 1 deployed in the wasteland of sumapaz.
“We are going to have four checkpoints deployed throughout the town, with all the capabilities that the High Mountain Battalion has to be able to contain any intention, be it from organized armed groups or common crime,” announced General Morales.
Mayor López, who visited the family of Carlos Julio Tautivathe social leader and peasant assassinated in recent days, said that the Mayor’s Office will continue to work with the town to guarantee the safety of the community.
“We have come here once again, as we have come so many times to accompany the community, to tell Sumapaz that we are here through thick and thin. We are in a painful and difficult moment due to the loss of the life of Mr. Tautiva”, and added that “with Sumapaz we have worked hand in hand all the time and this community, each one of the families, must know that they are alone, that we are going to continue working together, that those who have to leave are the criminals who are causing anxiety and fear, that we are going to stay working and taking care of the territory”.
José Hernán Patiño, a farmer from the sector, told Snail News: “A little more security, that they let us live in peace. That’s a big problem, that they won’t let us work. Do not bleed us and kill us so cowardly and vilely “.
Mayor López, already on the security council in the town of Sumapaz, also announced, according to information from Snail News, who will meet with President Gustavo Petro on April 23 to discuss the presumed presence of the refounded front 53 of the Farc dissidents. He also warned that there are properties of the Special Assets Society in the area, which have caused a territorial dispute.
According to information from Blue Radioafter the visit of Mayor López to the town, six measures were announced to guarantee security in the territory.
The first measure is the creation of an interdisciplinary group, made up of specialized prosecutors and elite uniforms of the Judicial Police, which will remain on the ground to identify and capture those responsible for the murder of peasant leader Carlos Julio Tautiva. The second measure that was announced was the offer of a reward from up to $50 million for useful information to locate the perpetrators of said murder.
The third measure is the four additional checkpoints of the National Army. Fourth, to incorporate a group of police officers who are agricultural experts to support peasants in their productive activities.
It was also announced that a new security council with departmental authorities will be held on April 24 to analyze new measures. And finally it was announced that support for the zone of peasant reserve and to the community organizations of Sumapaz.
Mayor López, for her part, announced that in the town they are “making home improvements, there will be 54, we are also paving rural roads, working with royalties to put up antennas that improve the internet, and we are installing solar panels for alternative energy; We have 50, we expect 30 more”.
