Have you ever wondered why the blocks in the Mushroom Kingdom actually float?
Aaron Horvath, one of the two directors of the film, now has an explanation for this.
A special mineral
Like Horvath in conversation with Variety indicates, a new mineral that occurs in the Mushroom Kingdom was devised for it.
This mineral was in turn dubbed floatanium: “Our idea was that there is a mineral that occurs naturally in the mushroom kingdom,” he says. “We call it Floatanium because we thought that was funny.”
More on the Super Mario Bros Movie:
“The Toads mine it and turn it into these blocks, which they in turn use for construction purposes.”
So there you have your explanation for the floating blocks. Sounds quite logical, doesn’t it?
