Although mocked for the dubbing of Chris Pratt in VO, and criticized for the softness of its plot (among other things), the film remains a huge hit. Super Mario Bros has indeed just passed the milestone of one billion dollars in worldwide box office receipts and without losing its cap. Big N and the animation studio are rubbing their hands, their film is a real success.
With this score, Mario crushes the latest feature films from the Marvel team. Thor 4 : Love and Thunder for example, pocketed “only” 760 million dollars, Black Panther 2 : Wakanda Forever859 million and Ant-Man 3 Quantumnia which did not even manage to cross the bar of 500 million dollars.
For now, the film Super Mario Bros is the biggest success of 2023. It is also the first film adapted from a video game license to exceed the billion dollars. A notable record and which should certainly increase further since the film has not yet been released in all countries, especially in Japan which has just opened its dark rooms to it.
