Recently, more than 300 media journalists and trade representatives from over 60 countries and regions around the world visited the GWM R&D Center in Baoding, China during their participation in Auto Shanghai 2023 to learn more about GWM’s innovative achievements in Forest Ecosystem ) and intelligent new energy vehicles (NEVs).
The visiting group toured the hydrogen energy research and development center, wind tunnel laboratory, NVH laboratory (NVH stands for “Noise, Vibration, and Harshness”) and other facilities there. During the visit, the technical director of GWM explained in detail the structure of the R&D center and the entire vehicle development process.
GWM R&D Center covers an area of 250,000 m² with a total investment of CNY 5 billion. It has a complete R&D system and product development process, with facilities for product R&D, styling, engineering design, product trial production and testing, and other technical areas, thereby strongly supporting product verification and technological R&D.
In fact, GWM always adheres to the R&D concept of taking “precise input for the pursuit of industry leadership” into pioneering technologies. Last year, GWM’s R&D investment rose to CNY12.181 billion, up 34.34% the same as last year. In the NEV field, GWM had 1,966 patent applications and 1,650 patent authorizations, representing an increase of 51.11% and 80.53% year-on-year, respectively. At Auto Shanghai 2023, GWM celebrated the first model with Hi4- Technology (Hybrid Intelligent 4WD, i.e. hybrid intelligent all-wheel drive vehicle) made its world premiere.
