She is probably the minister who is currently being criticized the most: Christine Lambrecht (SPD). Again and again, the defense minister’s actions and statements are out of the ordinary. Lambrecht took office with a faux pas: she did not invite her predecessor Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer (CDU) to hand over office – and replaced many of the employees with her own staff.

Things did not calm down during the defense minister’s first year in office. the private flight by government helicopter and his son to the holiday island of Sylt. And on New Year’s Eve, Lambrecht may have put the crown on the criticism.

The Secretary of Defense delivers a New Year’s speech. It cracks and bangs behind her. Rockets and firecrackers explode. The minister is difficult to understand. Despite the bad sound, the following can be heard: Lambrecht speaks of the war in Europe – and in the same breath of great encounters, for which she thanks.

Criticism hails for the recording. From the opposition, from civil society, from the media.

The opinion research institute Civey carried out a survey on behalf of watson and asked: Is Christine Lambrecht still acceptable as Minister of Defense? And is the criticism of her video New Year’s speech justified?

82 percent of Germans consider Lambrecht to be no longer sustainable

The vote of the respondents is devastating: 82 percent of those surveyed stated that they consider the Secretary of Defense to be no longer acceptable. Only 9 percent of those questioned, however, stuck to Lambrecht.

Particularly striking: In the group of 30-39 year olds, none of the respondents stated that they still consider the Minister of Defense to be the right person for the post.

A similar picture emerges when evaluating the different party affiliations: Union voters (91 percent), the FDP (87 percent), the AfD (96 percent) and the left (80 percent) agree that Lambrecht has to go. The voters of the Greens (75 percent) and the SPD (58 percent) are less harsh in comparison with the minister.
