Career of Nils Glagau

Nils Glagau was born on October 31, 1975 in Hesse. In 1991, his father Kristian founded the Orthomol company together with a chemist friend. At that time, it was the pioneer in the field of dietary supplements.

His father and mother initially sold the capsules out of the garage. Glagau was able to experience first-hand what it means to set up a company early on.

While his parents were founding the company, he was doing his Abitur and began studying ethnology at the University of Bonn. After completing his master’s degree, he specialized in ancient American studies and researched Mayan archaeological sites in South America.

In 2009, his father died unexpectedly of a pulmonary embolism. Glagau then took over the family business together with his mother and older sister. At that time he was just 33 years old and suddenly CEO of a healthcare company with around 400 employees.

Orthomol is now based in Langenfeld near Düsseldorf and manufactures over 30 different dietary supplements.

Since the sixth season, Glagau has been on the jury of the investor show “ The lion’s den“.

Not much is known about the private life of the entrepreneur. Nils Glagau is married and father of two twin daughters.

He is also an enthusiastic sports enthusiast and also expresses his interest in sports through his company’s sponsorships. In 2017, it supported the Fortuna Düsseldorf football club and the national ice hockey team to this day.
