Jacksonville, FL.- With the start of May, Jacksonville voters have a few weeks to decide who will represent them as mayor for the next four years.

The current mayor, Lenny Curry, is ineligible to run again due to term limits. Instead, voters will choose between Democrat Donna Deegan, a former television news anchor, and Republican Daniel Davis, executive director of the Jax House, for mayor.

THE CANDIDATES

Davis is the darling of the current administration and endorsed by Curry, Sheriff TK Waters and Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Deegan, who would be the city’s first female mayor if elected, has also been endorsed by several pastors and community leaders.

The March primary election saw low turnout from both sides of the political spectrum with only 25% of registered voters submitting a ballot. Still, Republicans turned out in greater numbers with a lead of more than 8,000 votes.

The municipal council positions up for election are for Districts 2, 7, 8, 9, 11, 14 and At-Large Group 5.
