Suspect arrested in fatal subway stabbing

Police arrest suspect in fatal stabbing of man at Washington Heights subway station.

The person involved has been identified as Diego Figueroa, 24 years old. He is charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

The incident occurred inside the 175th Street station just before 6 p.m. on Thursday.

Authorities found the victim, Johnny Medina, 40, with multiple stab wounds to his torso.

He was taken to Harlem Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The suspect and the victim apparently had a dispute before the attack, but the reason for the altercation remains under investigation.

In a statement, the MTA stated that this was a senseless attack that spread from the street to the subway, and thanked the police for the quick work to find the alleged aggressor.
