Tamaulipas Installs Council of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas.- Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya presided over the installation, swearing-in and first ordinary session of the State Council of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development of Tamaulipas and made a call to assume the commitment and make it valid, not only for the environment, but for an adequate and healthy development of the people of Tamaulipas.

In the presence of Ana Montaño Medina, general director in charge of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and representative of the Secretary of Economy of the Federal Government, Raquel Buenrostro Sánchez, the governor of Tamaulipas urged that this Council not be a dead letter, that it be, He said, a living Council in which there is permanent coordination and communication so that ideas, circumstances, experiences and innovative ideas contribute to achieving the objectives of the Government of Tamaulipas in favor of a more equitable and prosperous world.

“I am very pleased in the reference to that concern that this administration had, when it is preparing with its cabinet, which I am very grateful for your participation, the State Development Plan, which is also focused precisely on goals, objectives and respecting this Agenda so important”, he expressed during the event held at the Polyforum in this capital.

Before the members of the state cabinet, as well as municipal presidents, it was announced that the Council for the Implementation of the 2030 Agenda in Tamaulipas, has the active and committed participation of representatives of the State Government, academic institutions, business sector , civil society organizations and other government entities and is a formal monitoring space that will allow the construction of a collective commitment and will promote, through multi-stakeholder collaboration and citizen participation, the necessary transformations to achieve an inclusive, integral and fair in the state.

For her part, Ana Montaño Medina, general director for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, acknowledged that the document presented today by the State Government is methodologically very complete and is aligned with the objectives of the 2030 Agenda, “we have no doubt that in Tamaulipas there is a great ally to continue with this implementation by 2030”, he indicated.

The Federal Government official made a special call to convene and keep the youth of Tamaulipas present in the implementation of the Agenda to disseminate the principles and objectives and assured that with this ceremony, Governor Américo Villarreal is setting a good example of implementation and institutionalization of what is required to carry out the objectives of Sustainable Development.

The Secretary of Economy, Ninfa Cantú Deándar, expressed that with the installation of this Council, the State Government recognizes the urgent need to adopt measures to protect our planet, empower our communities and ensure a future of equality and justice for all.

“The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is not just a compendium of words; It is an action plan in favor of people, the planet and prosperity. His goal of strengthening universal peace and guaranteeing access to justice resonates in the very heart of Tamaulipas,” he said.

He added that the 2030 Agenda presents 17 interconnected Goals and 169 indivisible goals whose objectives cover the economic, social and environmental spheres, outlining a path towards a future in which sustainability and equity are an unwavering guide.

In addition to the Technical Analysis and Evaluation Committee, which guarantees rigorous monitoring of the actions implemented, he explained, three specialized committees have been established: the Environmental Protection and Climate Action Committee, the Social Development and Comprehensive Well-being Committee.

The members of this Council swore: Ricardo Gerardo Guerrero Morales, Head of the Governor’s Office (vice-president of this Council), Héctor Joel Villegas González, Secretary General of the Government; Adriana Lozano Rodríguez, Finance Secretary; Jesús Lavín Verastegui, Secretary of Administration; Dámaso Anaya Alvarado, Secretary of Rural Development and Verónica Adriana Aguirre de Los Santos, Secretary of Social Welfare.
