Without unity "the transformation movement would end," warns Sheinbaum

MEXICO CITY (appro).– A few hours after the draw for the pollsters who will participate in the selection process for Morena’s presidential candidate, Claudia Sheinbaum reiterated her call not to break the unity among the six Morena candidate no longer put an end to the transformation movement.

“We are living in an extraordinary moment, and that is why the unity of our movement is essential,” he said during the informational assembly in Izúcar de Matamoros, Puebla.

The former head of government of Mexico City stressed that it is not about “only unity for unity’s sake; It is the unity for the people of Mexico, because that unity cannot be broken in any way, because if not, it would end the transformation movement.”

In her speech, she reiterated her consideration that it is important to “give continuity to the transformation project that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador began in 2018” and incidentally boasted, for the umpteenth time, that she leads the way in people’s preferences:

“It is not for nothing, but we have been up in the polls for a year and we are clear about the unity of our movement; that is why we will always call for the unity of our movement.”

“Water, good omen”

Before starting her speech, Claudia Sheinbaum was about to receive a “good bath” when one of the canvases that covered the field of the Izúcar de Matamoros sports unit broke and dropped a stream of water a few centimeters from where she was sitting in the temple.

With a gesture of surprise, the Morenista candidate picked up her feet and dodged the water, while the speaker took advantage of the fact to predict her good fortune: “In Izúcar de Matamoros we say that when there is water it is a good omen.”

The one who did not need any words of encouragement was Julio Huerta, former secretary of the Government of Puebla, a relative of former governor Miguel Ángel Barbosa and coordinator of the Sheinbaum team in that entity.

As in the Huejotzingo information assembly, Huerta arrived with dozens of people waving flags and shouting “Julio gobernador” in chorus.

PT denies food to attendees

At the end of the event, in an exclusive tent from where PT militants listened to Sheinbaum’s speech, a person denounced Proceso that the PT members denied children and the elderly the delivery of food – atole and “coloraditas” or bread with colored sugar –.

Immediately after the complaint, the petistas discovered the baskets and allowed people to take what they wanted.
