Since this year, owners of real estate must make a new declaration to be in good standing. In total, 34 million people will therefore have to go to the impot.gouv site, in the new “real estate” tab, to declare their property(ies) to the tax authorities. The guide is available ici.
What is the use of the good?

With this new census, the tax authorities want to identify vacant homes and second homes, in order to submit them correctly to a possible housing tax (not to be confused with property tax).
Errors and “oversights” will be penalized in the same way: the taxpayer is liable to a fine of 150 euros per item not declared to the tax authorities. These must be declared before June 30, 2023 to avoid a financial penalty. However, this amount remains relatively low compared to the potential amount of housing tax on an expensive second home.
