Both were recognized in the Video of the Year category, for ‘Anti-Hero’ and ‘Kill Bill’, respectively. Behind them are Doja Cat, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo, and Sam Smith and Kim Petras, all tied with five nominations. BLACKPINK, Diddy, and Shakira received four each.

Swift currently has 14 VMAs, which puts her behind Beyoncé, who has 28 (two with Destiny’s Child); Madonna, 20 awards; and Lady Gaga, 19 awards.

Beyoncé is nominated for Entertainer of the Year. As she has not posted any music videos surrounding the release of “Renaissance”, she is not nominated for any other awards.

The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, scheduled for September 12, will feature a record 35 first-time nominees, including Petras and Metro Boomin’ and Rema, who have three each.

The VMAs will be held at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Fan voting has already begun online in 15 gender-neutral categories, including the new Best Afrobeats category. Voting ends on Friday, September 1.
