Among the many surprises that characterized the schedule of videogame productions in 2022, Tekken 8 was one of those that most generated great interest from fans. Unveiled during the month of August last year, Bandai Namco’s iconic saga is ready to return to the videogame scene with this new chapter.
If 2023 will be Capcom’s celebratory moment on the front of the timeless fighting game genre, with the arrival of Street Fighter 6 on the eve of the second half of the year, the long-awaited return of Tekken can be glimpsed on the horizon.

What we know about the upcoming Tekken is very limited: information on the next videogame production led by Katsuhiro Harada is limited to the roster of confirmed characters of Tekken 8 and little else. We know, however, that the project is far from its actual conclusion, even if its presentation has generated positive feedback.In light of the few innovations that marked the reveal of Tekken 8 to the whole world, the new explosive trailer of Tekken 8 at The Game Awards 2022 rekindled the interest of the fans, which highlighted further details on what it should be one promising experience in playful and technical-qualitative terms for the whole genre of reference.
Which consoles will Tekken 8 be released on?
As confirmed by Bandai Namco itself, the leap in quality made with the next chapter of the Tekken saga (developed on Unreal Engine 5) required a compromise in terms of product accessibility on different platforms: Tekken 8 is out on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC next-gen exclusive.
The cause would be to be found in jaw-dropping graphics that seek to set a new standard high-level quality (as we have been able to see so far, at least according to the published trailers), conceiving the entire technical and videogame system aimed at exploiting the potential of the most recent gaming machines. Therefore, there are no PlayStation 4 and Xbox One ecosystems in Bandai Namco’s plans, which directs its gaze towards a future that is beautiful to see but, above all, full of many new contents.
What will be new in Tekken 8?
As reported by Bandai Namco itself, Tekken 8 is a project based on a series of changes involving gameplay at the forefront of the product. Among the news coming and expected for the next chapter of the saga (not yet revealed to the general public), we know that in terms of game mechanics there will be new introductions.
In detail, Tekken 8 introduces the heat system, which allows special attacks, unique movements and an enhancement of your character’s abilities in your fighting style. The ultimate goal is to diversify the user experience as much as possible, making the most of everything that each member of the Tekken 8 roster has to offer.
We can assume that this is just one of the changes introduced to the gameplayalthough it is necessary to wait for future communications from members of the development team and not only to be able to be sure.
Tekken 8 roster and characters
As mentioned above, among the few official information leaked currently there is a partial list of characters on the Tekken 8 roster. It is a list that counts a handful of fighters, who make up a very small fraction of what will be the large roster of wrestlers. The last three chapters of the saga, in fact, counted from their well 36 fighters at the launch of Tekken 7, 41 fighters in Tekken 6 and 32 characters in Tekken 5.
A large variety of challengers is therefore expected with the next chapter of Bandai Namco’s iconic saga, but at the moment which fighters have been confirmed? Beyond the two protagonists of the reveal trailer, namely Jin Kazama and Kazuya Mishima, the new Tekken will also be present:

When is Tekken 8 coming out?
Sadly, Bandai Namco hasn’t announced a release date yet of one of the most awaited fighting games by the gaming community. While the release of the rival Street Fighter 6 is scheduled for the end of the first half of the year, to know the exact release date of Tekken 8 we have to wait for further information from the publisher or from the team led by Harada.
What are the requirements of Tekken 8 on PC?
At the moment, users are eager to know the details of the minimum and recommended PC configurations to start Tekken 8 on one of the three platforms for which the game is scheduled to be released. As can be seen from the Steam pagein the additional notes of the item “System requirements” a generic TBD is reported.
The actual minimum and recommended system requirements must also be determined. So, this requires work on Tekken 8 to progress further.
