Moments of tension between the residents of a La Plata neighborhood and representatives of a campsite that is in that area took place this Saturday, at a time when the inhabitants of the place detected that what they denounced as a “clandestine connection” of running water was being carried out to supply the pools and sanitary facilities of the place.

Word spread quickly in the neighborhood and soon 40 to 50 people gathered to try to stop the work from going ahead. Neighbors raised that they already have chronic low pressure problemswhich would have been worsened if the campsite, belonging to the Circle of Non-commissioned Officers of the Buenos Aires Police, made the link with the main pipe that provides water to the entire neighborhood.

It all happened in 137 between 516 and 517where the campsite is located and the residents who reacted live across the street, between 516 and 518 streets. There were heated discussions, picket threats, police complaints and the intervention of neighbors who sought to calm the situation.

As confided by neighbors to 0221.com.ar It all started around 9:30 this Saturday, when a neighbor saw the workers working and detected that they were making a ditch and placing pipes in the direction of the campsite. “The objective was to make the connection with the main pipe, which is the one that provides us with water,” he said. Gustavo Telecheaone of the locals who participated in the discussions.

“They did not show us any authorization, so we immediately verified that it is a clandestine work,” said the neighbor. The event led to a police complaint that prompted the presence of police officers to calm things down, which were already heated at that point. There was also a call to the San Carlos delegation, from where -according to the neighbors- they announced that they will file a complaint with the institution that manages the campsite.

The situation calmed down only when a person linked to the Círculo de Suboficiales arrived at the scene and it was agreed to stop the work. “Although the man did not want to identify himself and did not show authorization to make the connection, for now they have agreed to remove the pipes and cover the ditch,” Telechea said.

As described by the neighbor, the campsite in question has two very large pools, changing rooms and other facilities. “They are drilling holes under the asphalt to connect to the water network and the big problem is that we don’t have pressure in the taps here,” he lamented.

“This is all done illegally because they do not have authorization from ABSA or any other authority. So we made a police complaint and we also notified the delegation. It is a clandestine, illegal work,” he closed.
