Since the beginning of the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine, German hospitals have taken in more than 620 injured people from Ukraine for inpatient treatment.

This was announced by the Bavarian Ministry of the Interior of the “Augsburger Allgemeine” (Thursday edition). These are both soldiers and civilians. In Bavaria, 107 injured were admitted.

The treatment of Ukrainian patients is a special challenge in many places. There is not much experience with war injuries in German hospitals, said Edgar Mayr, director of the clinic for trauma surgery in Augsburg, which admitted ten victims.

“Gunshot injuries do happen here, but these cases, both in scope and quality, are new to us.” They are “terrible injuries.” (AFP)
