Texas Department of Motor Vehicles closes all its offices statewide

HOUSTON – The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) reported that all of its systems are out of service throughout the state.

This disruption affects all vehicle-related services, whether online or in person, including county tax offices and other registration renewal locations such as grocery stores and title offices, vehicle dealerships, and specialty license plate purchases.

Due to this outage, all 16 TxDMV Regional Service Centers (RSCs) will be closed on Friday.

This measure has been taken to ensure user safety and to properly address technical issues that have affected DMV systems.

Discontinued services include renewal of driver’s licenses and registrations, issuance of license plates, and completion of vehicle ownership transfers, among other essential paperwork.

Systems are expected to be restored soon and users are advised to stay tuned for updates provided by the DMV.
