For many, the former weather forecaster and presenter Elin Tvedt (48) is a familiar face – and led, among other things, “71° nord” for five seasons.

Then she quit the TV industry in 2016, and disappeared from the screen. Now, seven years later, she is making her TV comeback when she will run Steinsjøen farm with 11 other participants.

Despite the fact that it was now that she felt ready for the screen again, the 48-year-old reveals what was particularly demanding about the journey back to 1923.

– A psychological study

Following the recording, Tvedt describes the entire stay as a kind of psychological study:

– I have been on the other side, since I have led “71° North” for many years. It took a few days there before I was able to adjust to the fact that I was no longer in control, and that I was now on the other side, she tells TV 2 and continues:

– It was a bit unusual, but it went quickly. It was an exciting experience, and being in there is almost a psychological study in itself.

Despite the fact that it has been quite some time since she was last on screen, Tvedt reveals that she has been repeatedly asked to return.

She has refused every time, for one reason:

– It hasn’t quite fit in terms of time, and so it was important for me to have a good concept.

Elin Tvedt is reunited with TV 2 in a new job: – I’m a potato

In addition, she had just read a book about her grandfather’s family, who ran a farm. This gave her even more inspiration to say yes:

– It was about the fact that they had managed to build a farm far up in Gokk. That book ran from 1922 to 2022, and it is about how they built and ran the farm until today, she says and continues:

– Now I could try farm work exactly during the period he had tried!

Reality bubble

It is a well-known fact that as soon as the cameras are turned on, many easily slip into the infamous “reality bubble”:

– I was excited about that, but I was probably most excited about how I should react when you are around such different people. I was thinking, “Can I keep my composure, am I going to be annoyed?”, all those things.

In addition, she has laughed at people who complain that there is a big drama out of small things, but she got to feel that herself on the farm.

– It is easier to understand now. You only have those people around you, and you don’t have a mobile phone or anything like that, so this will be your whole life.

When she entered the farm, Trond Moi (53) was the first participant she met, and was ecstatic that they had a chef. In addition, he was one of the few participants she had a relationship with before.

– I knew very few, and Trond and I have mutual friends, so we have been to parties together. I was so happy when I realized we had a chef. That was the saving grace – then I could relax and lower my shoulders, says Tvedt, before she emphasizes with a laugh:

– I was just hoping that he would cook, then.

Lots of drama

She does not hide the fact that she has watched The Farm for a long time, and thought that they always cut to the worst drama, and sharpened it. But when she arrived at the farm, she quickly realized that it was the exact opposite.

– There will be so much drama, and they have had to moderate it. So you quickly get into that bubble there.

She prepared for a long time to be away from her two children, who are excited to see the reality debut of the mother:

Elin Tvedt chooses a new career path

– I was looking forward to putting my mobile away and just being present. But of course I dreaded not having contact with those closest to my family. I tried to finish dreading beforehand. I thought through this scenario and tried to imagine how this would turn out, she says and continues:

– When I got in there, I had worked my way through it, so it went better than I thought. You enter the famous bubble and I probably tried to think as little as possible about them, since I couldn’t do anything about it.

She has not revealed anything to her children yet, who know nothing about how things have gone on the farm in 1923.

– I am excited myself about which stories they will follow, what others have said about me, what I have said about others, because that is not all I remember so long after.

– We have joked a bit about the fact that we have to have a lot of parties now before it is shown, before we become unfriended, the 48-year-old says with a laugh.
