Starring Naomi Watts — the darling of American versions since The call —, the feature tells the story of two twin brothers who find their mother, who recently returned from plastic surgery.

And, as it couldn’t be otherwise, destiny brings the duo together – even if it doesn’t result in a fairytale encounter. But the most important thing is that this story develops in a fun and light way, the way we need it at this time of year.

We return to suspense and horror, proving that 2022 has been quite a prolific year for the genre. The baby sitter tells the story of a young immigrant who left Senegal to work in the United States. And when he finally achieves the stability promised by the American dream, he decides to bring his son to the country.

It’s the kind of tense story that marks the best of Blumhouse and that arrived on Prime Video already surrounded by prestige, being one of the winners of the Sundance Film Festival.

Yet another Blumhouse thriller. In Run, Baby, Runwe have a story that has become recurrent in the genre: that of a woman who goes through hell after meeting a stranger.

In this case, the character of Ella Balinska goes to dinner with a client and what seemed to be a common date soon turns into a game of life and death in which this maniac — played by Pilou Asbæk (game of Thrones) — turns out to be a real monster as he starts hunting his prey around the city. A new romantic comedy to show that Prime Video in 2022 is not just about blood and disgrace. Back to me, we have a couple of friends who are experiencing a similar tragedy together. After spending years in stable relationships and certain that they would live that romance forever, both are abandoned.

Alone and without understanding what went wrong in their relationships, they decide to unite to do what everyone advises against: running after the person they love.

It’s the kind of situation that we know will go wrong, but that yields fun moments in a light and curious story about endings and beginnings.

One of Prime Video’s main bets in 2022 was a beautiful spy story with hints of marital problems. A Dinner Among Spies is an adaptation of one of the most popular books by Olen Steinhauer, known as one of the great contemporary authors of the genre, and brings Chris Pine and Thendiwe Newton in great shape to live this totally non-standard couple.

The film focuses precisely on a dinner involving two former CIA spies who, by chance, were also married in the past. And more than serving that mood pie, the reunion also brings out some secrets and sorrows and puts their lives in check – that is, that perfect combination to create the ideal tension for this type of story.

One of the most talked about movies of 2022 is also one of the reasons why this was Harry Styles’ year in the movies. The actor and singer had already given what to talk about in Do not worry, dearbut it was with my policeman that he really shined. And not just because of the steamier scenes that left many fans breathless, but because of its more mature script.

The film is an adaptation of the book by Bethan Roberts and focuses on the love story between two men – one of them being a police officer, as the title already reveals – at a time when this type of relationship was considered a crime in England. So we have a love triangle involving this homosexual who tries to lead a double life.

Based on the true story of a group of teenagers trapped in a cave in Thailand, Thirteen Lives: The Rescue precisely counts the efforts not only of the local community, but of the whole world to help these children to leave the place safely.

With Viggo Mortensen (Lord of the Rings) in the cast, it’s one of those films to leave everyone afflicted and, in a way, bring a message of hope about what we can do when we join forces.

Another film based on true events, Argentina, 1985 is one of the great surprises on Prime Video in 2022. The feature film tells the story of a group of jurists who unite to face the military dictatorship that ruled the country at the time in the courts.

In an attempt to do justice to the victims of the military, they fight a battle seen as lost and put their own lives at risk. A powerful story that shows how it is the role of cinema to keep history alive.

And it is, obviously, another excellent work by Ricardo Darín, the great name of Argentine cinema.
