The 18-year-old actor, who plays Will Byers in the Netflix series, shares his homosexuality on TikTok. He also gives a nod to the character he embodies.

American actor Noah Schnapp, the interpreter of Will Byers in the series Stranger Things, is coming out. The 18-year-old artist reveals his homosexuality through a humorous TikTok published Thursday evening.

The young actor films himself there in full playback on the sound of another voice, which says: “It was never so important as that. Honestly, it will never be so important as that.”

“I look more like Will than I thought”

At the top of the video, he writes a few words to clarify the context: “When I finally told my friends and family that I am gay after spending 18 years of fear in the closet and they simply replied ‘we know'”,

And to evoke, in legend, the character who made him famous: “Obviously, I look more like Will than I thought.” For several seasons, fans of Stranger Things speculated about Will Byers’ sexual orientation. After several years of rumors and timid screenplay clues, Noah Schnapp confirmed what many had understood in the columns of variety last July:

“It was suggested from season 1: it’s always been there but it was never sure (…) Now that he’s older (the writers) have made it something very true and certain. He is now 100% clear that he is gay and in love with Mike (played by Finn Wolfhard, editor’s note).”

Noah Schnapp was 11 when filming the first season of Stranger Things. The series is a phenomenal success on Netflix which has never been denied. The programme’s fourth season, unveiled last May, got off to the best start in the history of the platform for an English-language series (but has since been dethroned by Wednesday). A fifth and final season has been announced.
