He is the architect who wants to see more smaller cities in the future. Crises and now also wars in Europe show that it is regions with a large concentration in a larger city that are most vulnerable, says Jonathan Naraine.
In his master’s thesis at Chalmers last year, he states that areas with many smaller urban centers and close to a vibrant countryside in between are the future’s recipe for success, not least in times of crisis or war.
Skaraborg is a clear example
He also reflects on how regions and municipalities can become more self-sufficient.
– Skaraborg is a good example of such an area, says Jonathan Naraine.
Jonathan is now a planning architect at Skara municipality. He has been involved in local food supply for several years and helped start a site where people who wanted to farm, but lacked land, could be connected with people who had land to spare.
