After superb video game interpretations such as Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and Arcane, Netflix, as you know, wants to continue translating video games to the TV format, where Ubisoft’s flagship Assassin’s Creed is next. However, it may be without showrunner Jeb Stuart, as per Collider has left the ship. Stuart, who has written films such as Die Hard and The Fugitive, recently commented on the matter, saying it was simply a matter of creative differences:
“I think it was a little bit of a move of executives from LA to London, and it allowed the London group who, unfortunately, had to inherit my vision of what it was instead of getting to develop their own vision. So I think that’s fair. I know it’s going to be great whenever it comes out. I think the Ubisoft guys are fantastic. I think it’s a terrific franchise. It was just a good, mutual time to move on for both sides.”
Who will lead the Assassin’s Creed project, which will be a live action show, remains to be seen. Is this a series you want to watch on Netflix?
