The death of Rodrigo Ortiz, the 12-year-old boy who died at home after having attended two hospitals in La Plata with his family, still shocks the region in the last few hours, the autopsy revealed details about how and why he lost his life. The boy’s family assures that his son was misdiagnosed twice and could still be alive if he had been treated in time.
The medical report, which came out this Friday, indicates that Rodrigo “suffered acute cardiorespiratory failure due to acute obstructive abdomen and fecal bolus.” The study also details that “no traumatic injuries were found” on the victim’s body “that could have caused a violent death.”
Although the investigation of the case is just beginning, the operation carried out by the experts would seem to support the complaint of their parents. According to their relatives, the day before his death the little boy had suffered vomiting and severe stomach pain, so they decided to take him to the Gutiérrez Hospital, where they diagnosed him with “gastroenteritis” and sent him home and, as a result of the worsening of their condition, they then went to the Children’s Hospital where the scene was repeated again. Rodrigo, however, was found dead the next day by his mother, in his room.
