In a new excerpt from one of his interviews to promote his autobiography, Prince Harry hints that his father’s coronation could take place without him.

Will King Charles III be crowned in the absence of his youngest son? In a new excerpt from one of his expected interviews on Sunday, Prince Harry hints that he may not be traveling to the UK to attend the event. A new explosive statement, as recent excerpts from his forthcoming memoir shake the monarchy.

King Charles III, enthroned on September 8 on the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II, will be crowned on May 6 in London. It will be the first coronation of the British monarchy since 1953, Elizabeth II having reigned for 70 years.

If the British press recently assured that Harry and his wife Meghan would receive an invitation, the couple could decline it. This is what the Duke of Sussex declares in a new excerpt from his interview with the British channel ITV, as part of the promotion of his book. The Alternate:

“A lot can happen between now and then,” he explains. “But my door is always open. The ball is in their court.”

“A lot of topics need to be discussed, and I really hope (my family members) are willing to sit down and talk about it,” he adds. He concludes by stating that while he still believes in the monarchy, he “doesn’t know” if he will play a role within the institution in the future.

Diana would be “sad”

For a week, Prince Harry’s revelations behind the scenes of the monarchy have multiplied. Excerpts from his memoirs The Alternate (Fayard), expected on January 10, were published by the British press. We learn in particular that his brother William “thrown him to the ground” during a violent altercation over Meghan, that Harry tested cocaine in his youth, that he killed 25 Taliban when he worked in the in the army in Afghanistan or that he lost his virginity in the back of a pub.

In addition, several excerpts from his promotional interviews have been revealed. To that of ITV is added an interview granted to CNN, also broadcast on Sunday, and a third interview for Good Morning America, expected on Monday. He talks about his falling out with his brother, Prince William and imagines what their mother, who died in 1997, would think of it:

“I think she would be sad,” he says. “I believe she would look at the bigger picture, to see that we need to work on some things in order to fix our relationship.”

He concludes: “I have felt my mother’s presence more in the past two years than in the past 30.”

Harry and Meghan left the monarchy with losses and a crash in 2020. They settled in California where they raise their two children, Archie (3 years old) and Lilibet (19 months). They have often denounced the relentlessness of the British press towards Meghan, presented as the reason for their departure, but also the hostility of the royal family towards the latter.
