In the early 1970s, Drews became a member of The Les Humphries Singers, a band he joined in 1976 at the Euro Vision Song Contest attended. (The band has been active again since 2007 and Jürgen Drews is on board.)

At the same time, he started his solo career and celebrated his breakthrough with a German-language cover of the Bellamy Brothers’ song “Let Your Love Flow”: “A bed in the cornfield” (1976). From then on he was a frequent guest on the “ZDF hit parade”.

With other genres of music, Drews also tried to take off in the United States, but had little success there. Instead, he enjoyed a large following in Mallorca. He had his first appearance on the Spanish island in 1976. In 1999 Thomas Gottschalk gave him the nickname “King of Mallorca“. Shortly afterwards he released a song with the same title. In 2011 he opened a bistro with the same name on Malle, which he had to close in 2020 due to the corona pandemic.

In addition to his career as a singer and record producer, Drews has also been involved in the film industry. He starred in several films and series. In 2003 there was also a docu-soap with him on RTLZWEI: “The Drews – A terribly nice family“.

A piquant fact that few people know: Jürgen Drews played in the 1972 Adult film “Dany – The Hitchhiker”. However, it is a film that could be described as “good” nowadays. Even though the singer can be seen naked in it, the film can hardly be described as pornographic.
