SVT Nyheter Skåne has reviewed Soheil Naderi and his legal practice Jurista. He is accused by his clients of defrauding them of money, and in several cases he has made elderly and sick clients sign gift deeds and wills in which they give almost everything they own to him.
– I think that it is a very urgent review, which draws attention to a problem with unscrupulous lawyers, says Mia Edwall Insulander, secretary general of the Bar Association.
A lawyer must, among other things, have undergone legal and ethics training and follow certain regulations – otherwise they can be punished with a fine. But that does not apply to lawyers.
– Lawyer is not a protected title, which lawyer is, she says.
The Swedish Consumer Agency warns of unscrupulous lawyers
The Swedish Consumer Agency issued a warning last year about rogue lawyers, and wrote, among other things, that many lure with free consultation.
– It shows that there is a problem with particularly unscrupulous lawyers. Therefore, it is very important that our authorities actually exercise some kind of control over those who are lawyers as well. For example, if lawyers commit crimes, as it seems to be the case in this case, it is primarily the police departments that are responsible for investigating and prosecuting it, she says.
SVT has sought Soheil Naderi for a comment, but he has not wanted to answer our questions. In documents that SVT has seen, he has generally claimed that he acted correctly.
