The intercity transport company Metropolis It will continue this Wednesday with the strike in its service, affecting, among others, the units that connect La Plata and the Federal Capital. Despite the fact that last Tuesday the National Transport Regulation Commission (CNRT), an agency of the Ministry of Transport of the Nation, ordered the firm to comply with the provision of its public transport services, the company confirmed that it will continue with the measure of strength throughout this new journey.

The conflict worsened in the last hours and since there was still no agreement with the Government, lhe company announced a total stoppage of its activities, so the 23 lines that the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA) manages and communicates with the provincial suburbs stopped working from the early hours of this day.

But to this measure of force, in addition, a new strike was added in the company the perlite, after a new episode of insecurity that targeted another bus driver. During the early hours of this Wednesday, a bus driver was assaulted and beaten by criminals while he was doing one of his tours and, in solidarity, his colleagues decided to stop to demand greater security.

The company has seven bus lines that run through the west of the province of Buenos Aires – from Moreno to Ituzaingó, passing through Merlo, General Rodríguez, San Antonio de Padua and San Miguel – which are paralyzed for now. The bus drivers, meanwhile, will hold an assembly in the next few hours to define the measures to follow.

THE METROPOL PROTEST

The company that connects La Plata and CABA thus celebrates its second day of strike. As they had assured through a statement, the measure is due to “the repeated failure of the Ministry of Transport of the Nation to comply with the judicial measure issued in favor of Metropol – ratified today by the judge in the case -, to which is added delay in payment of compensation. Within this framework, it is that lines 65, 90, 151, 194 and 195 interrupted their services, while lines 176, 237, 276, 310, 326 448, 507, 510B and 670 progressively reduced it, “due to lack of resources to operate”.

“It should be noted that, having paid 100% of the salaries of our more than 4,000 workers, we have reached the critical limit of our resources. The origin of this situation is due to the unjustified withdrawal, for 16 months, of 15% of our income, a situation that was brought to Justice through a precautionary measure with a favorable ruling ratified in several instances, which has been disobeyed by part of the Ministry of Transport of the Nation, depriving the company of resources that are essential to cover all of its demand, as expressly recognized in court rulings“, continued the statement released last Monday and, in addition, added: “This illegitimate withdrawal of resources, added to the problems suffered by all AMBA operators (unpaid debt of subsidies for more than $24,000 million to date, together with the delay due to the impact of 2023 inflation not included in the subsidies), was supported up to now with the great business effort, and the greater indebtedness to comply with the service,” they added.

The letter closed with an apology to users “for the inconvenience this causes”concluding that this measure is “an unavoidable consequence of the repeated breaches by the Ministry of Transport of the Nation of its obligations and judicial rulings.”

Meanwhile, the CNRT explained that in the event of the interruption for a period of five consecutive days or ten alternate days per calendar year, the corresponding records will be submitted to the Argentine Ministry of Transportation, which, through its Secretariat, may even evaluate the removal of the permission necessary to provide the service.
