The head of Chinese diplomacy, wang yistated this Wednesday that China bets on the development of its relations with Russia Despite the changing situation in the world, during a meeting in Moscow with the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov.

Wang stressed that regardless of “changes in the world situation”, Beijing maintains its position of “apply efforts together with Russia for the development of positive trends in relations between the great powers”.

“Our relations are developing dynamically and, despite the heightened turbulence in the world arena, we exhibit cohesion and disposition of defend our interests on the basis of international respect and the central role of the UN,” Lavrov said in turn.

“China and Russia always keep their strategic decision to advance firmly in the course of the formation of a multipolar world. We have always been in favor of multipolarity, and against unilateral actions and hegemonism,” Wang added.

He stressed that Sino-Russian relations “maintain a high dynamism in its development”, and that he hopes that they will arrive “to new agreements.

Wang is the director of the Foreign Affairs Commission Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Chinaa position that is above the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Neither Lavrov nor Wang made mention of the Ukraine conflictalthough China has launched a peace initiative and Wang himself assured three days ago in the German city of Munich that kyiv and Moscow should start direct negotiations on peace in order to reach a political agreement.

Ukrainian President, Volodimir Zelenkysaid Tuesday that he had news through his Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kulebathat China had a peace proposal, but admitted that it has not received any official documents.

Beijing has not yet formally submitted its initiative, so the terms of it are unknown.

After his consultations with Lavrov, after which a press conference is not scheduled, the head of Chinese diplomacy will meet with the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, as confirmed by the Kremlin. Wang has also met in the Russian capital with the secretary of the Russian Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev.

Wang’s visit to the Russian capital occurs on the eve of the first anniversary of the beginning of the war campaign Russia in Ukraine, which is on Friday.

Wang said on Monday that China wants to work with countries that are interested in reaching a peace deal in Ukraine and achieve a ceasefire as soon as possible.
