The area of Casco de La Plata has been haunted by crime for a long time. Homes, businesses and neighbors on foot are daily targeted by criminals who, regardless of the day or time, act under different modalities to carry out the robberies.
In this worrying context, robberies in apartments have intensified in recent weeks, according to several victims who denounced this newspaper. One of them was reported yesterday, under the scrutiny modality, that is, in the absence of the owners.
This time the victim was a 26-year-old man who, upon returning to his home in a building located on Calle 4, between 61 and 62, found the unpleasant news that his apartment had been broken into. There they searched all his belongings and fled with various valuables and a sum of cash.
Based on what was reported by police sources to this newspaper, the robbery was discovered yesterday by the victim, who, on Labor Day, decided to return home after spending a few hours visiting a friend. “When I returned to my apartment, I observed a lot that my belongings were on the floor, and the mattress was open. I also noticed that the door to the balcony facing the front, in the parking lot sector, was open,” explained the young man who did not hesitate to notify the Police immediately.
In the midst of anguish over the robbery suffered, the victim was able to recognize at first sight the absence of a red Canon digital camera, and a Sony A7 3 camera with a black 28 MM lens. She also revealed that they took a sum close to eight thousand pesos.
It is worth mentioning that the thieves acted with great “intelligence” since at the time of the search they did not violate the entrance door to the building since it “was closed and without damage,” they detailed in the police complaint. Regarding the entrance to the apartment, it is believed, on the other hand, that he could have been from the balcony since he was violated and his living room faces the street. “The apartment is on the first floor, but I don’t know if they also attacked the other three that are in the same sector,” the young man explained resignedly.
FRIGHTENED NEIGHBORS
The facts of insecurity do not give up and, as this newspaper has been reflecting, they have residents of various areas of the Region in suspense. In this context, the last neighborhood of the Casco Urbano has been suffering a series of robberies and its inhabitants assure that “the fear is great” since they do not “live in peace” in fear of being victims of crime.
“This area is close to what is El Mondongo where neighbors also report robberies every day and many of them violently. Around here on 60 motorbikes pass by without a patent and nobody tells them anything. We need greater control because the situation is getting out of hand,” a front member told this newspaper.
