Chihuahua.- The municipal president of Chihuahua, Marco Antonio Bonilla Mendoza, reported that there are currently seven elements of the Municipal Public Security Directorate (DSPM) in the process of investigation for alleged extortion of owners of commercial establishments.

The foregoing, in response to complaints from merchants of some establishments in the downtown area that corresponds to the Angel District and the Villa District in the north of the city, who stated that some Municipal Police agents regularly extort them for supposedly giving them protection and preventing criminals from ask them for a flat fee, as well as avoid robberies or assaults.

He said that they are investigated by the Honor and Justice Commission, where there are organizations of organized civil society and citizens outside the municipal administration.

“We are not going to allow or tolerate this type of situation. I ask the citizens to present the complaint, to come to the Internal Control Body, I assure you that we are going to proceed. A few days ago we had a situation with the District coordinator Diana and she was terminated immediately, we have also terminated other coordinators who do not comply with the procedures or behavior. Believe me that we are going to proceed with all the rigor that is our responsibility,” said the mayor.

There have been several anonymous complaints from commercial establishments in squares in the North zone, where it corresponds to the Villa District, in which bars and nightclubs have also been closed by the Municipal Government Sub-directorate for recidivism.

Regarding the Center, previously and anonymously for fear of reprisals, the complainants commented that this situation occurs in streets such as 25 and 27 after Avenida Niños Héroes towards Teófilo Borunda, the Mexican Army, Julián Carrillo, Progreso , among others, where there are some food businesses, spare parts, workshops, repairs, sale of various items.

Given this, the director of Municipal Public Security (DSPM), Julio César Salas González, said that there are no reported cases, however he asked citizens to make their respective complaints, since by instructions of the mayor, Marco Antonio Bonilla Mendoza, there will be no tolerance to elements that abuse their authority.
