Despite the recent negative response from the CMA concerning the takeover of Activision-Blizzard by Microsoft, the European Commission is determined to render a different verdict.

Meeting next week ?

For many months, the battle between Xbox and PlayStation has been raging and has seen the two competitors advance their arguments. A few weeks ago, the Competition and Markets Authority announced that it wanted to block the takeover by highlighting Microsoft’s enormous strike force in the field of Cloud-gaming: “The final decision to prevent the operation comes after the Microsoft’s proposed solution failed to effectively address the concerns of the cloud gaming industry, outlined in the Markets and Competition Authority’s interim findings released in February. »

That being said, other agencies have yet to render their verdict on this case. This is particularly the case of the European Commission which, according to Reuters , should issue a positive opinion next week. Still according to information collected by the London press agency, the official announcement of this news could take place as early as May 15, a few days before the deadline for decision set by the Commission for May 22 next.

Thus, the many agreements made by Microsoft with Nvidia, Boosteroid or even Ubitus seem to have weighed in favor of the Redmond firm. As well as the partnerships concluded with Nintendo and Steam in order to offer the next installments of the Call of Duty franchise on these platforms if the purchase were to materialize.

As a reminder, other organizations have already validated this acquisition, such as Japan, Ukraine and Chile.
