LONDON – A British judge on Friday rejected the latest attempt by activist Julian Assange to prevent his extradition to the United States, where he faces espionage-related charges.

Judge Jonathan Swift considered that “none of the four arguments” raised by the defense are not acceptable and accepts the delivery authorization signed on June 17, 2022 by the then Minister of the Interior, Priti Patel.

Despite the fact that Assange’s extradition is already taken as a fact, his lawyers said they will try a new appeal next Tuesday before two other judges of the High Court, his last judicial seat in the United Kingdom.

Assange has been in a London jail for four years, which he entered after Ecuador withdrew his political asylum and expelled him from its embassy in the British capital.

He was initially detained in 2010, after WikiLeaks exposed alleged US war crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan, at the request of Sweden, which considered him a suspect in alleged sexual crimes for which he was never charged.
