The FDI World Dental Federation (FDI) announces today the highly anticipated Conference on sustainability in dentistry which takes place on June 5th, World Environment Day.
After the overwhelming success of the project sustainability in dentistry For the past two years, FDI is pleased to host the virtual conference in the second phase of the project. Fascinating case studies, innovative ideas and research projects that have one thing in common await the participants: they reduce the environmental impact of dentistry. Abstracts will be presented on virtual posters and there will be a grant fund for participants from lower income countries.
“We have made remarkable progress with this initiative, particularly in the drafting of the Joint Statement on Sustainable Oral Health“, explains Prof. Ihsane Ben Yahya, President of the FDI. “I am thrilled to continue our journey towards greater sustainability to ensure a healthy future for our patients, for our profession and for our planet.”
Since launching in 2021, the project has brought together key stakeholders. They all share one goal: to implement more sustainable solutions for a greener future and to reduce the environmental impact of dentistry. These include industry leaders, as well as healthcare professionals, research experts, legislative authorities and dental associations. The project has already gained considerable momentum: 265 dental practices have now committed themselves to working sustainably by committing to the Sustainability Toolkit have registered. 125 players in the oral health supply chain have the Commitment to sustainable dentistry signed.
The new phase of the project, supported by Dentsply Sirona, Haleon, Sunstar, Colgate and SDI Limited, will give dental professionals access to valuable educational resources and tools so they can make a positive impact on the environment and society.
