Fatima, how do you feel in this first week in charge of the newscast?

Excited and with a lot of responsibility, she remembers that with the information we share, Peru awakens, but also I am very grateful to all the families that allow us to enter their homes to accompany them early.

How is the chemistry going with Alicia Retto?

Very good, she has contagious energyI understand that for both of them it implies a challenge for different reasons and that can generate a beautiful empathy. It’s the first time we’ve worked together, but before we went on the air we met, we ate a delicious lunch, we were in the pre-sale and we met several times with the Matinal team.

Is the time change affecting you?

It’s a strong time change because I used to rest late and now I’m up before four in the morning, so I think it will help me to correct sleeping hours, all on the friendly side (laughs). I particularly get to the channel before to cover my raccoon eyes ha ha ha.

What is the journalistic advice that has marked you?

The importance of not losing sensitivity and, of course, always delving into the causes of an event and the short and long-term consequences.

What do you do when you’re not on TV?

When I really disconnect from work I watch a movie or series, although I have a couple of fictional favorites, I really like them if they are based on true events or I also read a book. I also share with friends or family.

Have you always wanted to be a journalist?

This question always allows me to tell something that some do not know, I studied Law, I am a lawyer, so I came to Journalism because I insisted on working on what I am really passionate about and I am very happy and grateful for it. I am a lawyer by profession and a journalist by vocation.

And how did you get into driving?

While I was studying at the university, I searched, tried and found the possibility of working in the press, so I would go to class and then run to the channel where I hosted and vice versa, then the practices were added, so I ran at all times. (laughs).

The qualities that stand out the most in you…

(Blushes). It gives me a little roche to answer this. I will only say that I like to be sensitive to other people’s stories and always remember where I came from to put my feet on the ground.

She is very happy to take on this new challenge of hosting the morning news in Latina.

Your favorite place is…

Where I can always hug mom and see her smile (tears).

The obstacle you had to overcome.

The worst moment was when my family fell ill with Covid in Trujillo, my mother was admitted, my father could not find an ICU bed and then he passed away. Uncertainty and pain do not let you sleep. However, I needed to be strong for the people I love and I am sure that work helped me get ahead.

Your boyfriend is…

He is such a good man, if you saw how he took care of me over the weekend because he had allergies, cooked, watched my medicine and got me picarones, the last very important thing (laughs). He trusted me at times when even I doubted achieving my dreams, he motivated me, reinforced my optimism, teaching me, for example, to celebrate getting the job he wanted even before signing the contract. He is my party and travel companion. Smug by my mother. It already seems that I am doing my vows (laughs).

Will there be a wedding soon?

We still have to wait ha ha ha.

Do you dance sailor?

Great debt of life, I learned hardship… But this year they will see me with my handkerchief up. I promise!

In the kitchen you are…

Look, I don’t like to cook, but every time I do they tell me that it turns out very tasty (laughs).

What is the song that lifts you up on a gray day?

One of my favorites and I recommend it for your mornings: ‘I can live on love’ by Rubén Blades. There you can hear a phrase that I use in my social networks: Good morning, joy!

What other tourist places would you recommend in Trujillo?

Go to Puerto Malabrigo this summer, the beach is beautiful and clean. Also visit the Lady of Cao.
