Four national senators from the Frente de Todos announced this Wednesdaythrough a press release, his departure from the official bloc and the formation of a new bench that will be called “Federal Unity”. The decision was made by legislators Guillermo Snopek (Jujuy), Edgardo Kueider (Entre Ríos), Carlos Espínola (Corrientes) and María Eugenia Catalfano (San Luis) together with the dissident Peronist Alejandra Vigo (Córdoba) and leaves the ruling party even further away to achieve their own quorum in that chamber led by Vice President Cristina Kirchner.
In the document released this Wednesday, theThe legislators assure that the Federal Unity Bloc “comes to raise the need to create a political space that gives true representation to the federal agenda and the Argentine provinces.” And they add: “We seek to be an alternative from where the possibility of contributing to the reflection on the Argentina that we want for ourselves and future generations is prioritized, without cracks, with discussions that plan solutions in the short, medium and long term for all Argentines We are committed to unity, respect and dialogue in order to find common ground, leaving aside petrified rhetoric and personalism that have done so much damage to us as a society”.
The brand new bench will be led by Snopek from Jujuy. With the loss of four senators, The Frente de Todos bloc will have 31 members and it will be further from being able to reach the quorum of 37 votes.
The rupture is known a few hours before the Senate of the Nation returns to session this Thursday after three months without debates in the compound. The preparatory session is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. and its purpose is to designate authorities, and set the days and hours of the ordinary sessions, as established in article 1 of the Regulations of the Chamber. A provisional president, a vice-president, a first vice-president and a second vice-president will be elected.
However, Cristina Kirchner will not chair the preparatory session. In her place will be the vice president Claudia Ledesma Abdala.
