After the robbery suffered by a Ringuelet resident for the second time in four months, several families in the neighborhood organized a collection to help him buy part of what he lost, essential for his daily work. It is the way they found to help themselves, because they say that all the complaints they make at the police station are useless.

The event that triggered this solidarity work in the area near the Ringuelet train station was suffered by a neighbor who lives at 510 between 5 and 6, one of the blocks hardest hit by robberies since last year. Just as he had told 0221.com.ar, the victim found everything scrambled at dawn on December 24: the thieves had entered the yard to steal and took almost all his work tools, musical instruments and a computer. Now the same thing happened again.

“In the early morning of May 1, I got home, opened the gate, just as it happened to me the last time, at Christmas, and discovered that everything was messed up”, the young man told this medium, who decided to tell the details of a new attack a few days later, after recovering. And in that line he added: “After that robbery I had put bars on the window through which they entered, that’s why they didn’t enter that way now: this time they made a lever on another bar, they folded it completely and tore it off. When I arrived it was everything mixed up: I saw that I was missing a Nikon 3200 camera, the graphic tablet that I had bought 2 months ago, the guitar, all the tools on the motorcycle, a drill that they had lent me to place the gate -the other one was given to me they had stolen the previous time-, cutlery from the kitchen, a hose from a water heater that is outside, and many keys that I had in a jar”.

“This time they took many things that are useful for daily life,” lamented the person who once again approached the Sixth police station to make the corresponding complaint. Twelve hours later the experts came to do the corresponding bureaucratic procedures and then nothing happened. “This is already tiring, the same thing always happens and it keeps repeating itself; they steal from us, we waste a lot of time making complaints and everything continues as if nothing, it’s more, it’s worse”reproached another neighbor who lives one block away and that several weeks ago she had also seen how a group of thieves stole the cables on the sidewalks without the Police being able to do anything, despite the calls to 911.

“What anguishes me the most is having to worry about how to get around the insecurity in this neighborhood, it’s part of everyday life, you have to be infallible because if there’s even the slightest possibility that they can get into it, they get in. The things of value that I have I had to distribute them in friends’ houses”said the victim of the last robbery that mobilized the rest of the families.

The same day this new fact became known, a group of neighbors who are constantly updated and alert in a WhatsApp group organized a solidarity collection to cover the expenses that the man has to face. “Unless it helps her buy her graphics tablet with which she works every day,” said one of those who carried out this action. House by house, the little that the neighbors could contribute was collected and everything was delivered to someone who had lost a large list of valuables. “Immediately my neighbors in the neighborhood showed their solidarity, I am very grateful,” she told this portal.

“They rob us at all times and the thieves don’t care at all because they know they have a free way to enter the houses, day and night,” a man who lives one block from Estación Norte, in 6 and 509. “On top of some of the security cameras we don’t know if they work or not, we are unprotected and we can no longer live like this thinking that they can rob us at any time,” he added.

One of the efforts that the residents of this area of La Plata are trying to promote has to do with opening a police station. “For years we have been collecting signatures to try to open a police station or a detachment in Ringuelet, which we do not have. At the time we collected many signatures and presented a folder with the map of the crime to the Ministry of Security of the Province. They boxed it out, they didn’t pay attention to us. Last year we did the same thing again and in January of this year, again. So far we have not received any kind of response, the file has not moved,” said a neighbor who has lived on 510 street for a long time.
