"The Flash" Raises 55 million dollars in first 3 days in theaters in the US and Canada

DC and Warner Bros. superhero film “The Flash” grossed $55 million in its first three days in theaters in the United States and Canada, according to studio estimates released Sunday.

While that’s a fair amount of money by normal standards – a considerable jump from DC’s last release, the sequel to “Shazam!” – and enough for a top spot, it’s also moderate by superhero standards, where the ends opening week with 100 million dollars are almost common.

It’s been a busy weekend in theaters. In addition to “The Flash”, the new Pixar family film “Elemental” and the horror comedy “The Blackening” were released. The only big winner was Wes Anderson’s stellar “Asteroid City,” which grossed $720,000 in just six theaters and the distinction of having the highest theater average ($132,211) since the start of the pandemic.

“The Flash” faced more complications than market conditions. He’s been in the headlines often over the past year, not because of the movie itself, but because of its star Ezra Miller’s off-screen woes, including arrests, erratic behavior and misconduct allegations. Miller has apologized and said they are seeking mental health treatment. They have also given up participating in the usual advertising circuit, except at the premiere.

Here are the 10 highest-grossing movies this weekend in the US and Canada, according to Comscore. The final figures are out on Monday:

1. “The Flash,” $55 million.

2. “Elementary”, 29.5 million.

3. “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” $27.8 million.

4. “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts,” $20 million.

5. “The Little Mermaid,” $11.6 million.

6. “The Blackening,” $6 million.

7. “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” $5 million.

8. “The Boogeyman,” $3.8 million.

9. “Fast X”, 2 million.

10. “Adipurush”, 1.6 million.
