Dan Reed, the director of the shocking documentary who accuses the “King of Pop” of pedophilia, denounces the decision to make a film about the music icon.

Dan Reed, director of Leaving Neverlanda shocking documentary that accuses Michael Jackson of pedophilia, criticized the upcoming biopic on the “King of Pop” in a column published on Sunday in the British daily The Guardian.

In this text, the director denounces the decision to make a film about the music icon. “[Pourquoi] nobody asks for the cancellation of this film which will glorify a man who raped children?”, he writes.

“It seems that the press, his fans and a significant part of the people who grew up loving Michael Jackson are willing to put aside his unhealthy relationships with children to just enjoy his music,” he adds.

“Society will forgive him”

In his gallery, the director then speaks directly to the creative team of the future film – the director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day), screenwriter John Logan (Sky Fall) and producer Graham King (bohemian rhapsody) – and asks if they will address the abuse that Michael Jackson has been accused of.

“How will you represent the moment when Michael Jackson, in his thirties, will take a child by the hand and lead him to his bedroom? How will you represent what happens next?”, writes Dan Reed.

According to the director, hiding “Michael Jackson’s attraction to young boys” sends a very clear message to survivors of child abuse: “If a pedophile is rich and loved by everyone, society will forgive him.”

With Michael Jackson’s nephew

Released in 2019, Leaving Neverland shows the testimonies of James Safechuck and Wade Robsonwho claim to have been victims of pedophile acts by the King of Pop in their youth.

The future biopic of Michael Jackson will be directed by Antoine Fuqua. The singer will be interpreted by his nephew Jaafar Jackson, 26, who has been singing and dancing since childhood. On his social networks, the latter declared “to be honored” to play his uncle.
